Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I have my Caravan or RV serviced?
Every 10,000km or before every large trip. This gives us the best chance of catching anything suspect. We all go on holidays for a good time, so minimising the chances of a bearing collapse, brake or suspension failure is a good thing! We understand things can happen to even the most fastidiously serviced vehicle, but minimising the risk is always best practice.
What does Caravan / RV servicing include?
Our RV and Caravan servicing is a comprehensive, safety focused service designed to keep your caravan reliable and road ready. Servicing is recommended every 10,000km or 12 months and focuses on critical components such as bearings, brakes, suspension, tyres, coupling, chassis, lighting and external items. All work is completed in line with manufacturer guidelines, with service documentation provided.
Can Caravan / RV servicing be done at my home or storage location?
Yes. We offer fully mobile servicing and can service your RV or caravan at your home, storage facility or caravan park (with permission). There’s no need to tow your caravan to a workshop.
Why do Caravan / RV bearings need constant service unlike my car?
Caravan bearings don’t ride on a refined coil suspension. They generally carry more weight per axle, see heavier side loading with a caravans height and lean, sit still for long periods between holiday seasons and are far from oversized for the job at hand.
The most common bearing used in caravans is ‘Ford Falcon’ front hub bearings. A single axle caravan running these bearings see them under quite a stressful load. Tandem axle bearings see even more work as they are constantly being put under load when cornering – in the car they are steering into the corner, these are dragged.
It’s also very difficult to feel early signs of wear or fatigue from the bearings unlike a car. This makes it very important to have your bearings serviced – removed from hub, washed and thoroughly inspected to look for signs of wear.
Do you provide service records?
Yes. We provide service documentation for every log book service, which is important for maintenance history, resale value and peace of mind.
Do you service both on-road and off-road Caravans?/ RV's
Yes. We service on-road, off-road and hybrid caravans & RV’s, and understand the additional wear and stress off-road use places on components.
How do I prepare for your arrival?
Please have your caravan cover off and RV on level firm ground – if you can’t get it reasonably level then having your vehicle attached is great. We need access down each side (1 meter is enough), a safe working environment (not on the road or busy street), and that’s it! We are battery/petrol powered and completely self sufficient.
What happens if issues are found during a service?
If we identify any issues, we’ll explain them clearly and provide practical recommendations. No additional work is carried out without your approval.
Is there a call-out fee for caravan servicing?
No. When you book a log book caravan service, the call-out fee is waived. This allows us to service your caravan and inspect any concerns during the same visit.
How do I book a Caravan / RV service?
You can book by calling us directly or submitting an enquiry through our website. We’ll confirm your location, discuss your caravan and arrange a convenient service time.
